Well, North Korea has the bomb.
I'll wait to read the technical info as it comes in, but the initial results do not look promising. And just on the tails of China and South Korea claiming that this cannot be tolerated.
This is yet another bit of news that does not belong in the "Making the World a Better Place" category.

Date: 2006-10-09 08:58 pm (UTC)Kim's military is not in the shape to do anything with the bomb, and the weapon is rather wimpy. Don't look for many aggressive maneuvers.
The problem is now political opinion in China, which got snubbed by the Koreans, and public opinion in Japan. Japan may decide to arm themselves over this, which would sned all of East Asia into a tizzy. That's the wild card in this situation, that and how China responds at the UN.
