In Pain

I'm in a great deal of pain today and I'm seriously considering ending it by cutting off both arms at the shoulders.

We did staff work yesterday at martial arts, except we did it with a fifteen pound weighted pole instead of the traditional staff. And now my arms hurt. Painfully. Very painfully. Especially if I do anything with them.

Do you know how much life sucks when putting on your T-shirt becomes exquisitely painful?

I actually really enjoy that feeling. When it's so bad that you can't lift your arms to wash your hair that night, you know in one or two days' time it's not going to be weakness, it's going to be pain. Then you know how hard you worked. ^_^

The problem is that it means that I basically cannot sleep. Hopefully it will mostly fix itself by tonight, but there are things I need to do, and being unable to move anything above my elbows is not going to cut it.

My personal "favorite" is the searing muscle burn in the hands and forearms that feel like every last nerve from the shoulders down has been compressed. :D It's one of the few things I'll take a pain killer for, because I have to to be able to do anything. While it does go away with repeated practise, and it *is* worth it in the long run in my opinion, I can relate to the unpleasantness of the intermediate stage.

Since I don't like myself on painkillers, I'm basically stuck inside and inactive today.

I adore that kind of pain, actually. But I have a masochistic streak and am still mildly upset that the old go-up-a-mountain standing-under-waterfalls punching-trees type training is out of fashion here in the states.

I WANT TO PASS OUT, DAMMIT.

My instructor did that kind of stuff.

He can no longer close his hands due to the damage to his joints. And he's got a lot of other damage as well.

I don't recommend it.

What if I don't make it a habit? Just every now and then?

I would upload some music for your sore muscles, except I'm not sure what your taste runs to. Hopefully you've got some muscle rub stuff or medicated plasters to ease the agony, like Salon Pas.
