This is a photographer's trick to make the rabbit look bigger. It was probably taken very close with a wider-angle lens. Look at the hand of the guy holding it, and his watch. It's as big as his head. Doubtless the rabbit is large, but not THAT large.
There are legitimate astonishingly large giant rabbits (http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_4690000/newsid_4694200/4694270.stm) but that particular picture is modified. My reaction? When they're that big, you only need one to feed a whole pack! Mmm, chasseur.
I don't think that the picture is modified, but I do think that the camera is tilted so that the head appears to be magnified. It's a lens trick, not actually a computer trick (either that, or international journalism has slipped to a new low). Regardless, the rabbit is still very large (and extraordinarily fuzzy).

Such optimism. ;)
The photographer deliberately took the picture to make the rabbit seem as large as possible, I'm sure. Even photographed normally the size is astonishing -- it looks like it eats those fashionable purse-dogs for breakfast. After I made that observation I had another look at my image search results for "giant rabbit" and found proof (http://www.giantrabbitrescue.co.uk/mediac/400_0/media/BN-Bunny7.jpg). It's enough to make one phobic, really.
