Sometimes I go into bookstores, go to the local travel section, and then use the first book I find to try and figure out where the hell I am.

Different maps really do convey very different information about the same area. I have multiple maps and guides to my immediate area, for example, and occasionally I still find something new. (I also just like maps, too.)
