Sometimes the University cordons off parking spaces for special events. As I was just walking across campus I came across one of those cordons, where parking was reserved for:

"Non Sexist Dance Security"

which immediately made me wonder where the Sexist Dance Security people got to park. And how do they check? Is there a questionnaire? Yes, I know what it really means, but I can't get the first impression out of my head. Does that indicate that there's something wrong with me or with the world?

I can't comment on the world, but I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with you. I'm also puzzled about the "non sexist dance" part. An "anti-sexism" dance I could understand, in the interest of combating the phenomenon, but "non sexist"? Who identifies themselves as sexist? It's like the people who say "I'm not a racist, I have black friends", or homophobes who insist they're *not*, gay people are just disgusting, or ill, or what have you. The average sexist will insist they're not a sexist, they just believe that women are naturally designed to be childbearers and homemakers etc. etc. Or maybe my understanding is off as well?

I think the Women's Center just had a bad day in the naming department, but what do I know? Maybe it's post-modern jargon.

It's also possible that I'm sexist, and hence am interrogating this text from the wrong perspective, especially probable since I, like most humans, have biases. But that just gets into circular logic, and pretty soon I'll be accusing myself of being a Nazi, so I think I'll just skip that leap of faith and claim confusion instead.
