Apparently, as Foreign Policy pointed out this morning, there is an upside to being in a recession, especially in the housing market. As two studies by Mintel detail:


  • The number of credit card direct mailing offers has dropped by 19% since October.

  • The number of mailed home mortgage offers has declined 30% since 2006



So see, it's not all bad news. People may be suffering foreclosures, but the rest of us can now get our mail in peace. And maybe we'll get lucky and junk mail rates will stay down. No point in getting totally optimistic though.
