Castles are Silly

First off, I have to say that Post-Modernism seems to attract bullshit. I don't know why this is, because there are some very earnest, intelligent, and thoughtful Post-Modernists out there. But, for some reason, the field attracts pretentious wackos in the same way that dog shit attracts flies. And, given that, it's hard not to poke them sometimes.

Second, if anyone on GAFF likes reading FFVIII fic (with a bit of FFVII thrown in), I've found an absolutely atrocious piece that I've written a review on, and I want to see what other people say about it. The problem for me is that it's too short, so it cuts me off before I actually get up to speed. I thought I would see what someone else said.

Don't think you're getting away Phineas. I have another one for you, and it's evil.

Lastly, I've realized that I'm an amateur fantasy writer, and yet I don't know a damn thing about castles.

This is a bit disconcerting, because essentially the castle in my latest epic is its own character, and now here I am, wondering what the hell I'm supposed to do with it. I mean, I know the theory of how to build one, but I don't actually know how to build one. I think I'm having it take way too short a time (five years to build the full castle-which seems suspiciously short to me), and I think I'm going to have some structural problems getting this thing to stand up. Plus, I need to figure out what you do inside a castle anyway, and what the servant breakdown is (people give types of servants, but not proportions-I'm still working my way through that). I don't want to make stuff up, but given my plot requirements, I may start having to. Oh well... Anybody got any sites with hints for me?

Meanwhile, I have been putting off figuring out what shots to get for India. Lucky me.
