Garang is missing

John Garang is missing, presumed dead.

Well, fuck.

I didn't like Garang, but he was one of the lynchpins that held the entire Sudanese peace deal together. If the Sudanese government no longer honors the spirit of the terms, or if Garang's people start fighting with each other over who will take over, the whole thing could kick off again. And it's the people of Sudan who will suffer when the warlords fight. Especially those poor sorry bastards who thought that it was finally safe to come home and have been trekking back across all of Sudan.

Please don't let it fall apart God. Please let me be wrong about human nature just once.
