Oh, I'm certain that the return of a large number of armed and trained men looking for a good fight was a contributing factor, but I think the current conflict would have boiled over sooner or later even without the sudden influx. It's been trending that way for the last five years at least.

I don't think there's a politician on this earth who acknowledges that, no matter what their sphere. If one could get them to think long term and address the consequences the world would look very, very different. Health, environment, population structure, economics...
