Hmmm...I don't have TV either anymore. I think here at least it's harder to be unaware - downtown is plastered with all sorts of advertisements and both DC's Green Lantern and Pixar's Cars 2 took extraordinary pains to make sure that they had presence. Actually, the differences between them were sort of interesting. GL took the bus route, going for a poster campaign with vertical posters at bus stops, and horizontal ones for the sides of buses. Cars 2 seemed to go for the visual panorama effect, aiming at billboards and in one case even a very large mural on the side of a building. Given the amount of time I spend walking around downtown it's hard for me not to know who is doing an advertising blitz.
Also I always sort of liked Green Lantern as a comic, so that keeps me in the loop. Your way seems better for mental health though.
