I think lack of science education certainly has something to do with it. I think lack of scientific reasoning is far more important. Every drug on the market, every real drug, has some explanation for how it works. You should be able to at least have a bullshit detector for those particular subjects.

Part of the problem with science is that the preparation takes so much longer, yet we stick to the same completion time. I came to college having completed the third semester of Calculus, yet I must say that my math skills were below where they should have been. Preparation time is so much longer, yet the time we get to do it in is much shorter.

It might be nice to have the English system. On the other hand, I've found a lot of people who didn't figure out what they wanted to do with their life until partway through college. You'll be screwing those people over.
