I think it would be on the whole good, because I think Egypt's gotten most of what it can get out of stability. For a long time stability probably helped in the growth of some institutions, but after a while it just becomes a barrier to progress. I think Mubarak's become a block to progress, and he and his government have to go one way or another. I don't see much advantage to waiting and letting the conflagration break out some other time.
At the same time, the lack of organization amongst the protesters can be troubling; it's unclear to me what will take over. So while optimistic about their future, I think we should all be planning for the worst.
