Safe at Home?

Hopefully (although statistically unlikely) none of you have or know anyone who was forced to get up early this morning and brave the madness for reasons of employment. If you do know someone you have my apologies.

I will now attempt to support the attempts of retail workers everywhere to avoid having a shitty day by staying the hell away from any commercial property so as to do my part to reduce the crowds.

Hear, hear. I have a friend who has had to work Black Friday in retail for the past half-decade, and this year she is quite literally thanking the god she worships that she didn't have to do so again.

Even being at the far end of the crowds I feel a bit overwhelmed so I can't even imagine what it's like for the people on the receiving end.

This consumerist feeding frenzy baffles me. Then again I loathe crowds. If I was living in the U.S. I would go out of my way *not* to buy things I needed/wanted right now. I'm very sorry that the various retail employees have to cope with this veritable assault, and all in the name of "extra profits/good deals".

I think most people loathe it, but it's become sort of a tradition. And corporate masters don't have to deal with people, they deal with resources, and resources do what they're told or they get fired.

A lot of people avoid stores on Black Friday, and I wonder how much good it really does the bottom line of a business to open then.
