Why are General Education requirements balanced in the favor of HSS?
Because HSS is easier than S&E.

Seriously. Enjoy feeling superior. I do. :P

As for the divide between Science students and Arts students and how never the twain shall meet, have you tried joining a college sci-fi club? Ours drew geeks from every course from computer science to folklore.
